What was I thinking when I said good night?
Well, yes, in a way they do. For a young female singer seeking any kind of commercial success, the tone of the derriere is as important as the tone of the voice. Let's face it: big hips ain't hip. As the butt sags, so does the career. Linda Ronstadt,Trisha Yearwood, Alison Krause, Mary Chapin Carpenter are three who did serious work on naturally large cabooses when they made their initial push into the spotlight. The hard, cold truth is that no matter how sweet the voice,no one wants to hear songs of romance sung by a lard-ass girl.Originally Posted by Enchantra

Popularity-wise, maybe. Talent-wise, not necessarily. Just because the mainstream audience prefers looks along with semi-talent doesn't mean the two go hand-in-hand. The fact is that the size of a woman does not determine her singing ability at all. Many large women have been blessed with beautiful voices and have made it big also. Patti LaBelle is one example. You though were referring to young female singers, I noticed. However partially true that may seem to be, even today more voluptuous girls are singing and men are loving it.Originally Posted by algernon
