i always casually listened to some mainstream rock/nu-metal/rap because it was cool, but i never really felt the same synergy that i feel with music now. the revolution started with Beatles 1. they put out that compilation with all of thier #1s, so my parents bought it to relive some old memories. I had always heard of the beatles, and i knew they were extremely influential, but i had never bothered to get into them. so when they brought it home, i figured what the hell, apprently they're the greatest band of all time, so i might as well give them a chance. you know the rest. i was then shown the light to zeppelin, hendrix, the who, etc etc. the beatles still remain my favorite, though.

When I was a little grommet, listened to a lot of country albums my mom used to play. Flying Burrito Brothers "Gilded Palace of Sin", The Traveling Wilburys. My ma had a mammoth Herman's Hermits infatuation, dug a lot of Donovan, Beach Boys. She was one cool dudette for sure. The first album I heard though on my own was the Stones man...Let It Bleed. Was over at my buddy Timmy's house in Plano, dug out all the albums and vinyl our parents had, and we started getting into a lot of blues/r&b rock. The Yardbirds, Them. We thought we were the coolest dudes around man, the summer of 1992. And then dudes...don't know how we got the copy, but we did...Abbey Road. "Here Comes The Sun", absolutely started my love of music. George Harrison, the dude, The Beatles. Oh man. 1994, picked up Oasis' Definitely Maybe and started digging on the alternative. And there you have it dudes.

I thought I had been in here already...guess not.

My family has always been chock full of musicians. My father was heavily into the "new" progressive rock stuff ever since I was very little (and before), and he was also into jazz and jazz fusion, classical, and some of what we now refer to as "classic rock". I could not pinpoint a day. Music has just always been in my life. I mentioned in another thread my first actual purchase was the Beatles' Revolver. I was seven at the time, and listening to music was more important to me than playing outside. Still is, actually, although walkmen and boom boxes came along and allowed me to do both...
