if he did ever say that im sure he was being ironic. much of thoms lyrics do mean a lot though they are regularly very personal and hard to decipher. many dismiss the lyrics to 'Everything In Its Right Place' to be simply meaningless fragments but they are actually quite meaning full which thom has stressed and defended. honestly, idont know whats not to get about "yesterday iwoke up sucking a lemon....".
that being said, not all lyrics hav to hav some sort of deep or powerful meaning to be great. take for example 'Some Might Say' by Oasis' Noel Gallagher,
"The sink is full of fishes/she's got dirty dishes on the brain..."
a brillinat lyric that has nothing to do with anything but sound fookin fantastic.

Pulp.
Yeah the trees, those useless trees,
Produce the air that I am breathing,
Yeah the trees, those useless trees;
They never said that you were leaving....

I think he wanted to say that the lyrics you wrote were gay, but that just my guess

Look at Silverchair's lyrics from NEON BALLROOM and DIORAMA. Great. Soundgarden, moreso that Audioslave.

There's something in my front pocket
