Hey, I was just thinking about starting this thread... I love a lot of the old SNES games' soundtracks. I really liked Final Fantasy Mystic Quest's slightly over-the-top rock soundtrack and the Zelda music, and even a lot of the stage music from Street Fighter II. I didn't play as much Sega, but yeah, the Sonic music was really catchy and clever. I was completely hooked on the Chemical Zone (?) music from the second game.

But yeah, Chrono Trigger is far and away one of the best video game sountracks ever written. I still listen to it to this day and it hasn't gotten old. The interlocking melodies are so perfect...

When Playstation and Playstation 2 came out, I thought a lot of the initial games had crappy music, but there are a few exceptions that have changed my mind. I'll probalby get ridiculed for saying this, but I really love the Dynasty Warriors 3 music, for example. Yeah, it's kind of silly at times, but it just gets me all pumped! It's like listening to the Rocky soundtrack!

The other game that almost goes without saying is Grand Theft Auto 3, the radio stations of which are pure genius. I mean, the commercials and talky parts are hilarious, but the music is also really good too. I like the reggae and electronica stations, personally, and there's the occasional decent song on Head Radio. Vice City has a great soundtrack too, but that doesn't really count since it's mostly "real" songs.

My favorite Videogame theme of all time is from the NES version of Solstace...it's like freaking 4 minutes long and is AMAZING...reminds me of Prog-Rock, lol...

...I wish the MiniBosses would get around to covering that!

Last year I downloaded the Boston Philharmonic playing the original Zelda theme. It was incredible.

Seeing as Super Metroid is my favorite game of all time, I have to give its music a mention.

A friend of mine has started collecting old games (mostly super nintendo stuff) and some of the music from those games are great. Secret of Mana and Chrono Tigger both have excellent music.
