Optimissed was not all that great...
it sounds like a very watered down version of any old skinny puppy songs.

That's part 1 of a planned 3-part look at the film samples used by Skinny Puppy. I haven't gotten around to parts 2 or 3 yet. If any of you doubted the depth of my obsession, here's the proof.
"skinny puppy is our cupid" - God forbid!

From what I've been able to gather the track that made it to the Underworld soundtrack is really more of a demo mix that a finished song. I think I remember hearing that it might show up later in a different form.

No, I don't. Doesn't really look like my kind of thing, to be honest. Looks like it's up your alley though.

That's funny. Out of all the movies I listed on that guide, my first choice would be The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, followed by The Legend of Hell House. Then Shadow of a Doubt, followed by The Tenant. I don't think I've seen that particular Twilight Zone episode they sampled, but I wouldn't mind owning one of those collections. The other films I haven't seen yet. I definitely want to see Marathon Man and 1984.

1984, is that the most recent one with John Hurt or something? I only seen it once, so I don't remember that line they sample being in that movie. I should get that DVD cause it is a really good movie. and I read the book 2 or 3 times.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I need to get that on DVD too.
we have the Tenant, as you may have remembered. it is pretty cheap at best buy.
The Legend of Hell House, Shadow of a Doubt, Marathon Man and that Twilight Zone, I surely want to see them.

Definitely see The Legend of Hell House, and the sooner the better. Of all the movies sampled by Skinny Puppy, this one was probably sampled the most, along with The Tenant. For that reason alone it's worth it for fans like us, but it's also an effective horror movie. I was kind of let down by the ending, but there are a lot of great scenes leading up to it. I think you'd like it.
Shadow of a Doubt is also good. It's not the best Hitchcock film I've ever seen, but it's worth a look if you don't mind old films. There's nothing scary about it, or even that suspenseful by today's standards, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It's probably the third most-sampled movie by Skinny Puppy.
1984... I think they sample the most recent one, but I'm not positive. There's another one from the 50s I think...
