Grado SR-325 ~ $350

Features:
Vented diaphragm
Aluminum air chamber
UHPLC copper voice coil wire
UHPLC copper connecting cord

Tranducer type: dynamic
Operating principle: open air
Frequency response: 18-24
SPL 1mV: 98
Normal impedance: 32ohms
Driver matched db: .05

You MUST allow this product to "break-in" for at least 60 hours of music playing before you try to judge the quality of their sound reproduction. Before the break-in period, they don't sound that good at all, but after close to 60 hours, they sound like pure heaven. Grado's have one of the most accurate base reproductions of any headphone I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot.

Also, even if you don't get a Grado, make sure you get an open-air designed headphone. The open-air design is infinitely superior in achieving better sound reproduction.

Sennheiser HD-600 but I have them for sale as I don't care for 'The veil'.
Not sure what I'll replace them with.
Maybe Grado SR225 as I consider them to have the best bang for the buck from the Grado line.

Sony MDR-EX71SLB Fontopia Headphones are great. they are relatively cheap, arent big and clumpy (biggness (??) and clumpiness seem to increase with price) and are ideal for blockin out the rest of the world. theyre £25 on amazon, guess thats bout $40..

Sony mdr-7506. by far the most accurate sound of any headphones ive heard, plus theyre professional, so sony isnt going to rip you off like they do with their high end consumer products. for 100 dollars, they sounded way better than my friends 200 dollar sony's

Well a few years later and I'm looking to upgrade this pair. The Sennheiser's still work fine and will still probably be used at home, but as shallow as it sounds, they do look pretty ugly.

So for general ipod use I've been considering grado's for a while. A friend directed me to http://www.alessandro-products.com/headphones.html which has what looks like tuned grado's and the music series one fit my budget. Any other suggestions? I may just opt for the sr-80's or sr-125's even though I have heard that the sr-60's are the best for portable use.

I've got a Philips SHP-805; almost on par with a senn hd202 I guess. Anyway, its burned in really well and so I like it. Ocassionally get to use my friend's HD555 which is pretty damn good.

Hey who was that guy with those 1.500 $ headphones? Anyway, I have Sony MDR-P1. First ever headphones I owned and still working. Astonishing considering everything else I own breaks after a year or two.

Sennheiser HD-25, the classic one in broadcasting. Reliable, not too expensive, light on the head. Ideal for monitoring, outside use, recording...

When it comes to audio I always go Sennheiser. Except for the mic's. Nothing beats Neumann. (I'm speaking from a professional point of view here. Don't buy Neumann to host a bingo-evening or to webcam with your friends!!!)
