I got it a few months ago, and I really love it. It's so raw and emotional...

I won't say that it's bad, but if you really want something raw, I think you'd better listen to Elliott Smith then to Rice...

although they're both guys behind guitars, i think that smith and rice shouldn't really be mentioned in the same sentence. two very different artists, and you're right about smith being a good deal more raw. to me, while i can enjoy his music, a lot of rice's stuff seems a little empty. there's no personal experience feel behind it, if you know what i mean.
excuse me please, i'm just being a obsessive puritan of a fan.

Damien Rice is a kind of acoustic David Gray. Nowt wrong with that, if you like David Gray. It has much more emotion and substance than DG's last, appalling, album. But I much prefer Elliott Smith anyway. On a positive note, the female singer on one of the DR singles is hot.

I really really like Damien Rice! I've been to two gigs and they were both awesome.
Good news for the guys: Lisa Hannigan is not Damien's girlfriend [she used to be, I think].
Lisa doesn't play cello, the woman who plays cello is called Vyvienne Long.
You shouldn't compare Damien to Elliott Smith, their music is very different... both beautiful in their own way.
My favorite songs are "The blower's daughter" and "I remember"
