Ok, hold on...if you're really sure, then ok, but I'm almost positive that I've never asked you about Carmen McCrae. Sarah Vaughan, possibly (although I still have no recollection of it). This has happened a couple times, and I don't think my memory is that bad. There's nothing in my PM box, and although we both know it's not unheard of ( ), I would almost never delete a Satchmo knowledge PM without adding its contents to a certain list I keep. So, although I know Satchmo is always sure when he posts, I just have to ask...are you sure that it was me who you've already discussed this with?
P.S. I'm going in all or nothing with all of my coughs, if you win this round I'll be starting over, from the ground up.

Hold on here.
Checking one of only two things Satchmo carries on him....Satchmo's I.D., not that he needs it....
yeah, it has my picture and the name, height and the rest is correct. So, yes, I am Satchmo....and you just did address that to Satchmo.
It was the day Satchmo posted this.

Yeah, I think there're a couple Jedi a few generations back in the jazzfromhell clan. Can't say we have any jazz musicians, but hey, maybe I'll start a new trend.
Thanks for the new list, whenever it does come. No hurry, of course.

My drum teacher showed me a CD last night called The Charlie Watts/Jim Kelner Project. It's an album made by Charlie Watts (Stones drummer, who would've thought?) with a bunch of sidemen and whatnot, where all the songs are tributes to famous jazz drummers, using different themes, atmospheres, etc. I haven't really listened to more than samples of each song, so I can't speak for the quality of the music (although it certainly is interesting seeing what they play for each drummer), but I really like the last one, which is Elvin Jones. It's sort of African Township music mixed with really soft, cool-styled jazz playing, and I really love the sound the two make together. Are there other full albums/artists that combine the two kinds of music in a similar fashion?

Charlie Watts actually started out as a Jazz drummer, however, the pay was better in Rock. He has recorded and performed with many Jazz musicians. One a tribute to Sidney Bechet on which he plays two tracks with Evan Parker.
He still thinks of himself as a Jazz drummer at heart who happens to play Rock.
