Richard Devine did a special show in 12.1 or something apparently. Slightly overboard I think....

I`ve got a Panasonic SA-PM 18 sitting half a meter from my ears.

It`s just a micro stereo but I can`t really fit a bigger system into my small bedroom. I`m very happy with it though, it`s 60W and has this BI-AMP EQ that crancks the sound up on rock and electronic.

Also got the AKG K141 Studio. It feels too much like studio headphones, but I can`t really say I was misslead considering the name.

Our Gateway computer has a pair of Boston speakers with a sub-woofer.

Maybe it's because I grew up with old monophonic record players and transistor radios...I'm really easy to please when it comes to stereophonic sound. Cheap jamboxes and cheap headphones don't bother me at all. Just about anything you can get your hands on today sounds worlds better than anything that was widely available when I was growing up.

Rev,.. have you ever gotten used to listening to a high-quality system? You might not know what you're missing!!

I didn't know the differences between cheap speakers and hi end speakers until I heard my friend's pair of Martin Logan.

Yeah, similar thing happened to me when I used some absolutly disgusting Sennheiser headphones while shopping for laptops...

ATC SCM12 studio monitors

I used to have PSB Stratus Bronze but after I got Sennheiser HD600 headphones the PSBs sounded outclassed.

The ATCs didn't get outclassed and they shouldn't at $1,700.00 USD!!!

Before I post this, let me just say that I consider myself a true audiophile, so the amount spent is justified in my opinion.

That being said, here is my "setup."

Paradigm Studio 100s ~ $2000

Rotel RB-1090 Stereo Power Amplifier ~ $2000

Rotel RC-1090 Stereo Pre-Amplifier ~ $1200

Denon DN-C685 ~ $850

And for when I want to do some headphone listening, I only use one brand of headphone, and that is Grado.

I have the Grado SR-325 ~ $350

My next purchase will probably be Grado's flagship headphone, and that is the Grado RS-1 ~ $750.

The Grados qualify as audiophile but the Rotel & Paradigm are more mid-fi than hi-fi. The Denon is certainly far from audiophile.

Price doesn't guarantee quality in audio, but true high end is pretty expensive. I had to buy second hand amplification.

And you needn't waste your money on the Grado RS-1; they're not that much better than your SR325s. Upgrade your source instead.

What would you recommend as a superior sounding loudspeaker in the general vicinity of price instead of the Paradigm Studio 100s?
