Dreaming music

Anyone dream their songs or dream any music? Does anyone out there remember any of the music they dream? Anyone with any musical dream-experiences in general? I'd like to hear about you because I dream music all the time and plan to record these in an album.

Even if you don't dream any music, drop me a reply just to say hi

See you soon!

Do you remember how the music 'felt' as opposed to the actual details of the music you dreamt?

I've had it happen a couple of times. One time, a really great song came out of it. And sure, I always remember the "feeling" of the music that occurs in my dreams. Usually the music feels more wonderful in the dream than the music actually is when I wake up and remember it. But this one time I mentioned was an exception. The song felt just as wonderful once it was realized in a studio demo as it had felt in the dream.

well, from a deep sleep state ive never retained much. sometimes ikinda remember some of it, but not enough to write a song. sometimes, you know when yure either juste wakinup or juste fallin asleep ive come up with stuff. a lots times to get to sleep itire out my brain by tryin to think of ideas for songs/lyrics. they sometimes click juste before im completely out and ihavta pull myself up outa bed so ican write it down, otherwise id forget. normally you wake up the next morning, read what you had written and its total shite and you juste toss it- the kinda stuff that if id been fully awake at the time idve scrapped it right there. ive done it a couple of times while wakin as well. ithink normally its somethin to do with whatever ive been dreamin about but the connections are fuzzy in my head. rarely has it prduced anything significant for me.

I find that the state between sleep and wake is often the sharpest for dreaming music, although this varies for me greatly. I understand what it feels like to feel really great about the dream music and sometimes feel it was crap! I have found that during sleep or during wake-sleep, I am devoid of judgement. I am just open to it. I don't discriminate then. It's when I wake up that I start to judge it. Then it raises issues for me, like, why do I hate it? There have been times where I have pushed through the judgement part, where I think it is total rubbish what I dreamt, and bring the song to fruition. Funny enough, these turn out to be my best songs! It's very strange. And even if I still don't like it when it is finished, I find that these are the songs that other people gravitate more towards.

Now I am really crazy and I record EVERYTHING I dream. I have tapes and tapes that I am currently bringing to the pro tools to flesh out. It's interesting bringing it to the producer who I am working with to. But that's a whole new conversation...I'll try not to talk to much!

Both Keith Richards and Paul McCartney say that that dream like state is inspiring, and i have to agree. Always keep a tape recorder by my bed

I dreamt once, and I actually remembered it when I woke up. But the remembering vanished as soon as I turn around to do something else... anyway, I couldn't do much with it, because I don't play any instrument.
