Well, my favorite song of all time is by this band ("I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"). I've been a fan of U2 since I first heard them.

As for Bono's political activism, I don't think it's b.s. at all. First of all, it's backed up by meaningful action, and second, I totally believe that it's born of a caring heart. What I do get tired of is Bono's superstar posturing (which I think is probably born of insecurity, not of inflated ego). I miss the un-self-conscious joy and passion of the earlier Bono (as in the Red Rocks concert video).

As for your next question (about Larry M. and Adam C.)...er, I'm happily married, thank you very much, but no, thanks...

The Edge is NOT one of the most underrated guitarists of all time...in fact, he's probably among the most overrated. What makes the Edge brilliant is his use of electronics to make the most of his minimalist style--which is minimalist because he truly doesn't have that much real playing ability. That said, however, the Edge has improved a lot over the years. He's a pretty darn good garage band guitarist at this point.

My favorite U2 album is, believe it or not, "All That You Can't Leave Behind", with "The Joshua Tree" a close second. My least favorite is definitely "Boy", but that doesn't mean I don't like it.

...But one question: What's this doing in the POP forum??? To me, U2 is, and has always been, very much a ROCK band.

I've been listening to U2 for years. "Beautiful Day" is my favorite from them. I'm not sure what it is about the song. Maybe it's because it's so different from anything else they've done.

so many songs to chose from, I had to go with Mysterious Ways. That album (achtung baby) is my favorite. I notticed you didn't have the song Bad on there. that's one that sticks out for me.

as far as his activism goes. If he's making a difference in whatever his causes are then it's cool with me. I may get tired of seeing him postuering all over the news though.

umm, I'm not really atracted to any of them. sorry.

and I think the edge has a great guitar sound. but I don't think he's as much an amazing guitarist.

'Bad' was never a studio recorded single, though a live version of it was included on the 'Wide Awake In America' EP along with a live version of 'A Sort Of Homecoming'- both traks taken from "The Unforgetable Fire" album.

It's also on their Best Of CD and I was pretty sure it wasn't live.

no, the version on the "Best Of 1980-1990" was the album version taken from "The Unforgettable Fire". another non-single that made it on is 'October' [as a hidden track] and four non-singles made the "Best Of 1990-2000"- 'Gone', 'Until The End Of The World', 'The Hands That Built America' and 'The First Time'. taken from the "Gangs Of New York" soundtrack, 'THTBA' was going to be a single but then was cancelled.

hey, theres another good one- whats yure favourite u2 trak that made it on a soundtrack?

"Miss Sarajevo" to be sure. One of the most unlikely pairings in history (U2--a.k.a. "Passengers"--with Pavoratti), but it works in a major way, a truly haunting and beautiful recording.

i went with 'hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me' for 2 reasons...

1 - it's one of the very few u2 songs that doesn't get on my nerves

2 - it was BY FAR the best thing in the batman forever movie
