would hardly call Mike Paradinas a Master, but more a pioneer...
his guises as Gary Moscheles, Tusken Raiders, Jake Slazenger, Kid Spatula, etc, have a different feel to them, but my fave has always been the Mu-ziq moniker...

What do you mean by pioneer?
The sounds that Paradinas uses and his style of composition didn't seem to be anything too original (IMO), although, what was quite dif. about "bilious paths" was how he could twist the sound, as the songs seemed to progress in a spiral-
his talent/skill is what (IMO) is the icing on the proverbial cake-
once again, he left me Wow'd. =)
(IMO) he has mastered the technique that Aphex pioneered.
Also, any recommendations for other good cds by Muziq?
"Bilious Paths" has some very good songs on it (particularly #2), but there're more then a few songs on it that fall into the category of [mediocre]
I'd love to hear more but don't know where to start-
peace<

I mean pioneer by his "tango n vectif" album that came out in 92' I believe, one of the first pre-IDM albums that could possibly be catagorized in that genre. Some other good albums are "Lunatic Harness", "In Pine Effect", "Brace Yourself EP" and "Royal Astronomy". I don't think mu-ziq, aphex and luke have any kind of "connection" other than they are all british and have been around for quite sometime. Now Aphex Twin (Richard James), Mu-ziq (Mike Paradinas) and Jega (Dylan Nathan), I believe, went to engineering school together, but I could be mistaken. Aphex and Mike have made an album called Mike & Rich "Expert knob twiddlers" and that's a pretty cool cd...

I like Lunatic Harness. definitely ahead of its time when it came out.
Expert Knob Twiddlers is a fun album, very groovy and fun to tap your feet to.
