I know it's not technically an album but what about The Pixies - BBC Sessions? It begind with an incredible cover of The Beatles - Wild Honey Pie! Come to think of it any of the Pixies albums have awesome openers!

Yes, the song which opens Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers kicks much ass. Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground by The White Stripes

There are many excellent opening tracks, but the hands down winner in my book is "In The Flesh?" on Pink Floyd's "The Wall." An epic opening to an epic album.

I love that opening. Everytime I hear it, I have to listen to the record right through. Great choice.

There are two opening tracks that always hold me when I put an album on, the first being "White Light / White Head" on the album of the same name, by the Velvet Underground, and "Speed of Life," on Low, by David Bowie. Both drag me in and hold me hostage until the last note of the album fades away.
