Nice definition, I love it, thats almost exactly what I would have put if I wereasked the same question, Im especially surprised that someone with such dislike of this certain music type would have such an elaborate definition of Emo, well, more like explination of how it became, but what better way to define something than to reviel its past? So Cheers to you.

haha, well sorry if i came across as *****y or pretentious. it's just eh. i would've said that i didn't care enough to reply to the question but then you owuld've thought i was backing down, and we can't have THAT =)

it's just, you see, going by that definiton, dashboard confessional is most certainly NOT emo, in the old sense. and i hate it when people say that emo music is simply music that makes the listener emotional, because honestly, any music anyone will ever listen to will make them feel something, in some way, so going by that definition then that means emo = music. which, if it's a genre, can't be possible, because a genre seperates musical styles, it doesn't encompass them all.

Ii just confuses me the amount of time people spend talking about music they don't like... I don't mind you posting your opinion at all, I'm just not sure that I would bother. As for the whole true emo vs false emo, **** it, **** it over and over again because there is no ****ing point. I'm not going to bother arguing over whether a band should or shouldn't be classed as emo because to be honest its a waste of time.

i guess that's the difference in your and my personality. i like to discuss music, and i'm not not going to discuss it just because i don't like it. i can discuss limp bizkit, metallica and nelly but i don't like them. why not discuss a genre i am not overly fond of?

i bother because i am the first to say, i am stubborn, out-spoken and would like others to hear/read my opinion.

i was hardly arguing about dashboard confessional not being emo. they very clearly aren't. i was stating a fact, no lengthy debate was brought up over it, just a few comments in reply. again, it comes down to debating music. it happens in every genre.

haha, anyhow. i have plenty of time to waste.
