Best Music DVD???
Just wondering if people had any thoughts on the best Music DVD out there. Of course, it all depends on who you like, so let's try to focus on the actual quality of the DVD (extras, video quality, etc, etc) as opposed to just voting for your favorite band because you like them, even if the DVD sucks.
So, any thoughts? i'd have to say my favorite one i've seen so far is Dave Matthews Band - Listener Supported.... Amazing sound quality, amazing video quality, some multiple angle stuff... not a lot of extras, but the concert footage itself makes up for it.
I just bought Portishead - live in new york, David Grey, and Norah Jones, but haven't checked them out yet.
Let's hear your thoughts!

I really liked the Queen tribute concert. Except for Axel Rose, he did the worst "We Will Rock You" EVER.

if you want a live concert that sounds like the band was playing in studio with supert sound quality and not much fans cheering, you need to check out NIN's concert DVD. the sound quality is so good that I couldn't believe it was live.
for lots of bang for your buck, get Fields of the Nephilim's DVD. it has 10 videos, and 2 concerts for only 20 bucks. the sound and pictures have been digitally remasted, so they are good to look at. now that's a bargain, if you like the band.

SPINAL TAP!!!
technically it's all about music... it's the only movie that i know of that goes to 11... all the other movies can only go up to 10... but see... spinal tap goes to 11... and that's why it's 1 better than all the others...

The Directors Label DVDs are incredible but they are music videos and documentries as opposed to live performances. They are definitely worth checking out though.

Yeah, its good isn't it? Have you seen the Spike Jonze and Michael Gondry ones? Apparently they plan to bring out a few more this year although I'm not sure who they have lined up, should be interesting though.

i wouldn't mind seeing director's works dvd for floria sigismondi or stephane sednaoui...
has anyone here heard of the 'festival express' dvd? it was a cross canada tour that was chronicled as the peak of the hippie 'movement' in 1970 it was billed as woodstock on wheels... it never quite worked out right tough... the tour was supposed to go across the country by train but halifax and vancouver pulled out so it ended up starting in montreal (i think) and didn't cross the rockies (i think it ended in calgary)... the grateful dead / the band / buddy guy / janis joplin were the main draws... joplin died not too long after the tour which is why most people haven't heard of it (30 years of legal red tape)... but the entire thing was filmed... there was always a camera rolling on the train... and the grateful dead's car never stopped jamming hehehe
it seems to have made the rounds at film festivals last fall but i can't find anything about a public release online...
