I just listened to Uh Huh Her... It's good at first listening, but not as good as the previous ones... Only a couple of songs have hooks good enough to get a grip on you immediately... and I really liked "Who the Fuck" live, but this album version sounds a lot less good...

I only have 'Stories from the city, stories from the sea'. I think it's great (i like how I can hear thom's voice on three of the tracks, hehe) and i'm definitely going to purchase some more albums.

"Stories" was the 1st one I had as well. I bought Uh huh her last week and gotta say that my impression was - Whoa, she's the closest to a female Leonard Cohen that I've heard. This one is deeper and it got better the next time I played it. She's got my attention, alright.

'Stories...' is the most unique album in her catalogue in that its the one one that tends most to the mainstream of things.

'Dry' and 'Rid Of Me' are both raw and dirty albums.

'To Bring You My Love' is very, very dark- very emotonal and very vulnerable.

'Dance Hall...' [her collaboration with John Parish] is somewhere inbetween 'Rid Of Me' and 'To Bring You My Love'- it shouldnt be overlooked as it is excellent.

'Is this Desire?' is the haziest record, somewhat detached.

'Uh Huh Her' is more ofa return to the sound and style of 'Dry' and 'Rid Of Me' [PJ Harvey's truest sound] but shes grown out of the naïveté of those early years. its a much more more mature album [as is 'Stories...'].

Off of "Uh Huh Her", I only really listen to "You Come Through". I Appreciate the rest, but it doesn't exactly suit my tastes

In the end, what we have are these little, great moments. They come and they go. That's as good as it gets. But, still, isn't that great?

I saw PJs show this past weekend. She was very good - talented - also a woman of few words. However I was not impressed with the band. The guitarist was way too into himself, like he was a one man show. Fine, but he didn't sound that great. It seemed that instead of feeding into PJ, she was spending some of her time ignoring him. Sometimes he had a string or two out of tune or something. She was also perpetually giving sound direction to the mixer during her numbers. At one point, she walked over and had to say something. She was performing very well, though - more on the heavy side of her repertoire. Generally it was a pretty good show. One more thing - I felt badly for her as it was her birthday and when they came back out for the encore, she emerged with what looked like one wrapped flower and a paper party hat. I have no idea why the tour staff wouldn't make sure she had something nice happen, like a presentation of 15 roses on stage at least!

I really like all the songs by her I've heard as yet. I will try to get whatever album (hopefully) available by her at the store
Its weird but there are lots of her songs that could be made into absolutely killer covers by converge(replace singing by screaming and make it a notch or two heavier...)
