You can say Sonic Youth all you want, the guys name is Thurston Moore and the female is his wife Kim Gordon.

Thurston mainly sings but Kim does quite often, they are great.

Kim's other band is called Free Kitten which she is the singer and guitarist.

of course some of great female vocals in punk music are from british acts like the slits, essential logic and the great (i stress great) german band kleenex (or liliput... i can never tell when or why the name changed). Blondie usually gets called a newwave band, but at least before stuff like 'the tide is high' came out, i would surely call them a punk band, and say that the way that debbie's melodic, sometimes slutty vocals mix with the cheesy pop of the band make a great example of how punk rock doesnt have to have leather jackets, power chords and swearing.

i saw the rogers sisters open for mission of burma recently and they were quite good. does anyone else know more about this group?
