easily, when reel big fish (at summerfest) rocked the stage. it was brilliant. (i live close to milwaukee and i go to summerfest every year. so far at summerfest i've seen, for punk bands, the matches, zebrahead, wakefield, alkaline trio, reel big fish (well, they're ska, but close enough), and many others.

This thread's been done before, I think, but heck, I don't mind saying it again...it was Yes, the "Open Your Eyes" tour in the mid 90s. It was the most incredible concert experience I could ever imagine having. Their playing was superb, Jon Anderson's voice was unbelievable (how DOES he do that at his age???), and the light show was an almost religious experience (and it takes a lot to make the ol' Reverend call anything "almost religious").

1) The bad brains
2) Fugazi (at a local bowling club)
3) Nirvana (at sydney's phonecian club)
4) Neil Young
5) Metallica in 1989
6) Faith no more (angel dust tour)
7) Rollins (doing black flag songs)
8) Helmet/Sonic Youth/Mudhoney triple bill
9) Fugazi (at a local pub)
10) Mr Bungle
Well that could be my top ten other great shows
The Ramones, Swervedriver, Janes Addiction (in 1990), Anthrax (in 1990), I saw nirvana another 2 times but the phenican club gig was by far the best (the photos on the inner sleve of in utero are all from that gig) NOFX in about 1994 were really good, the supersuckers, babes in toyland, Nick Cave and the and the bad seeds, iggy pop, smashing pumpkins (siamese dream tour), primus (before herb left), PJ Harvey, Queens of the stone age, propagandhi, midnight oil, Butthole surfers (1991), The cure, slayer
anyhoot I might leave it there as the question was my favourite live band, if I go further it will be listing good shows and festival gigs which I don't think should be counted.

I used to watch Whitmore at the Vic in swindon just after Rob left Uncle Brian! They are great in a small venue, mind you the Vic was more tiny than small!
Anyway, top three live shows would have to be...
Blur
Radiohead
Mogwai
However I think that A Silver Mt Zion in February is going to tear me into a thousand tiny pieces and scatter me among the stars and satellites that haunt these ancient skies, but I will let you know...

Yeah, I used to like moshin or dancin but I am not as devout a follower of punk rock as I used to be. I enjoy just chillin with a joint and watchin amazing bands more than going crazy these days although now and then I still like to get a little crazy. I have always been a little put off by the macho element of some moshpits though, I think it's a little childish.
