I used to love my local scene, but after a while it began to piss me off. Mt best friend was in one of the bands on the local punk scene and we all went to see bands almost weekly, however I get really fed up with the attitude of most of the 'scenesters', they were just really snobbish and very up themselves. I think a scene is good but you should never pledge allegiance to one single scene, it will get you nowhere.

The Mars Volta at All Tomarrow's Parties which was alot of mostly underground bands playing. It was the best show I've ever seen. They have so much energy and you get all wrapped up in it. They are great.

Lollapalooza has turned into a joke, so I feel somewhat chagrined to say that Lollapalooza '92 and '93 were two of the best concerts I've been to in my life. I had waaay too much fun at those shows, outside, slamming around in the mud with tons of crazy-lookin' fvckers at the height of the whole "alternative revolution" (or whatever). The lineups (that I saw) were...

Lollapalooza '92: The Jesus & Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers (w/ Jim Rose Sideshow Circus on the side stage)

Lollapalooza '93: Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Front 242, Dinosaur Jr., Arrested Development, Fishbone, Alice In Chains, Primus

Also, I saw Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys together in a small club in 1992. That was just insanely good.

Oh yeah, it's supposed to be a punk show... Well, then I'd have to say Helmet and Jesus Lizard in '92.
