Question Who has heard of Puro Conjunto Music

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone of you have heard of a type of music called Puro Conjunto Music. It's played using the accordion, bajo-sexto, bass and drums. It originated in Texas. Also if you have any tips that you can share with me on how to promote a website on a very low budget,, I would be very grateful. Please visit my website and tell me what you think about it. I am doing it myself. Thanks for your time.

Yes, in fact. I have a great story about Conjunto. I was in Austin Texas a few years back doing a music conference, and my wife and I were checking out local radio stations, and we heard this strange mix that sounded for all the world like polkas with latin melodies. A day or two later I went to Austin's Tower Records and asked a hispanic storeworker what in the world it was. He said it was Conjunto and that it was the result of the combination of the folk music influence of German immigrants in the area (the Austin area is loaded with German immigrants and little "Germantowns" are all over the place) with the folk music of Mexico (which of course had deep roots in Texas soil as well).

I asked the storeworker who would be a good artist for me to take home to Tennessee. He suggested Flaco Jimemez. A few years later, Jimenez became a lot better known as a member of the Texas Tornados. Anyway, it totally jazzed me to see the music mentioned here on the music forum.

I wish I could help you with doing cheap websites, but that's completely outside my realm of expertise. I will definitely give the site a visit.
