The other day I was surfing the net and one of those shady download software from random company boxes popped up. By accident I clicked yes and ever since I've had random pop ups on my machine that I can't get rid of. I've got ad aware but it didn't pick it up, not really sure what to do.
In that case it probably loaded some cookies and changed your home page etc. I remember this happening and I did something and it went away...forgotten though...sorry.

Well you probably should delete your cookies...or at least the ones you don't know about and also go into your internet options and see if it has changed your home page address. You might also want to see if there is a new program intalled on your hard drive. If there is one it'll probably be called whatever the spam that pops up is.

Well I couldn't take it anymore and I think I found the program file. The folder is called clear search and I tryed deleting it all but there are a couple things that won't delete. The first is called IE_ClrSch.DLL and the second is the application Loader. When I go to delete them it says the files are currently in use or copyright protected, any idea on how to get rid of them?
Why don't you try any anti-spyware program? One will find it! This popup might be considered as a virus by some antivirus software... Try a scan with any free antivirus!
Another solution is to find a keyword in the popup. Type it in google and maybe you'll get a surprise. If everybody has troubles removing this popup, a forum might exist...
In case you really found the right file : if you're running Windows 98, you can easily remove the file through Ms Dos : the file won't be locked in Ms Dos. If you have any Windows version, you can find on the web some programs that can delete locked files. If you can't find one, I'll check my cdroms...
