Venetian Snares "The Chocolate Wheelchair Album"
Alright guys, I respect Aaron Funk quite a bit actually for his music, stature and well, his creativity. When I first started listening to him with "Doll Doll Doll", "2370894", "Higgins Ultra Glue Funk Hits", I was highly impressed, but after "Winter in the Belly" and "Find Candace" came out, lets just say I was getting a tad bored with the guy. His albums have went from completely dark drill n bass psychedelia, to upbeat horn section rip ups highly syncopated into a bowl of discombobulation...
The reason of my boredom was I felt like the same sounds were being used, compressed and just slapped onto a program and recorded, over and over, almost like a Danielle Steel novel...but to get onto what I think of this album...
It starts off almost exactly how Higgins did, with a blistering track with even weirder vocals, nice track I must say, but I would have to say that the successor is probably my favorite track on the album. "Too Young" starts off as usual Venetian, his style of programming, of course, but then it rips a hard rock sample into bits and progresses to cut up ala Prefuse73...brilliant, I must say...The other tracks leading up to the latter part of the album seem to be things of the past, yet I don't find them overprogrammed like others...Another standout track is the ragga breakbeat gabba influence of "Ghetto Body Buddy" and also the succeeding track "Sky Painted on Car" goes into some different territory (if you think he possibly could) with more of a straightforward dance song that is still highly intelligent, but also can be played as a nice club track...The 9 minute opus "Marty's Tardis" goes along the same path as previous works, but adds the usual emotion that came with "Winter in the Belly of a Snake" and adds his signature style, switches towards the middle of the track to a swinging dub taste of soul and integrity...and to end the album "Herbie goes Ballistic" foreshadows the actual content of the song.
The only thing different about this album is how it ends comparing to the last few albums. At least on "2370894" and "higgins" there were ambient tracks to sort of slow your mind down from the large fried egg it had became. This album ends as it begins; the maniac has won my heart again...

This album is fucking nice. I think my gross-overuse of the disco smiley is a testament to the fact. I really want to hear it coming out of big-loud speakers, with gi-normous bins. He chops it nice... staccato quanta. Abomination Street sounds like the type of choon that would make people go crazy in live setting.

I was wondering what that was! (not way into the crue obviously)
pseudo--didnt you have a site where it listed samples, who used them, when and where kind of thing. or was this a fantastic database dream of mine?
also, can I just say ghetto body buddy, has been on repeat...Im just not getting over the novelty of that tweeked, twacked and thacked "g-h-e-t-t-o-b-o-d-ie-ie-ie-ie" towards the end...and the bass that comes after? *pet your subwoofer*
