I don't think reviews are entirely pointless, they can provide a good basis for finding new and exciting music. But I do see your point Pete, music is an incredibly personal thing. I think that the format of reviews needs to change, it should be less judgemental. It should describe the music but shouldn't hold too much personal opinion, in a similar way to good journalism in news.

Wow, what a stupid list. The only worthy song on it is "A Day In The Life". Like has already been said by Lara, I think U2 is a great band. But they've got much better songs than "One". I would have voted for "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" as a top ten item easily...but not "One" (even though I do like the song, in fact)...

Well, anyway, this is yet another example of why I dropped out of "pop culture" a long time ago...

Yeah, this would be like the Holy Grail. But then you'd go too far and end up with goddamn Jilly Gooldens of music - "Oooh, in this track I'm getting... angst... violence.... a dash of sadness.... and a rich, heady oak-scented bouquet"

Or maybe not.

That list is garbage. Sure, some of those are good songs, but I wouldn't put even 1 of them in my Top 10.
