I have to say that's the strangest top 10 list I have seen in a long time.

"The leading British tabloid (The Sun) conducted it's own poll in response to the recent Q Magazine list of the '1001 Best Songs Ever', which they described as 'geeky'. Only Oasis' 'Live Forever' appears in both top tens.

Bohemian Rhapsody, which was first released in 1975 and spent nine consecutive weeks at number one, emerged as a clear winner with Robbie Williams' 'Angels' coming in at number two. The top ten reads as:

1 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
2 Angels - Robbie Williams
3 Everybody Hurts - REM
4 Imagine - John Lennon
5 With Or Without You - U2
6 Live Forever - Oasis
7 Going Underground - The Jam
8 Penny Lane - The Beatles
9 Candle In The Wind - Elton John
10 Love Me Tender - Elvis Presley "

To be honest this list is probably a greater reflection of the taste of the british general public (sadly, this of course includes the slightly dodgy tastes of teenage girls, grandpa's and single mums ) however whether it's any better than the other list is anyone's guess

Well, Q used to be brilliantly indipendant for such a big, popular magazine. They must've hit some sales problems and so had to flatten out. Robbie Williams, Britney etc. have been on the front of the recent issues. It used to be Thom Yorke.

Thom Yorke was perhaps a bad example, sinse his celebrity is massive anyway. The fundamental difference between my form of discrimination and your racism/sexism is that i dislike robbie/justin etc. because of what they have done, not what they ARE. There's obviously nothing wrong with being female or black!

that was hilarious. completely ridiculous, but hilarious. takin a comment about how Q has lost their edge and crediability by placing the likes of robbie williams on the cover and extrapolating it to a sign of potential hardcore sexism and racism. brilliant.

whoshisface was right though bout Q losin the plot though, thrash. just like rollinstone and spin and others before them, Q is goin away from the music and the foundation they had originally built their readership on and moved towards the softpink middle of pop idols and everyday shite in order to sell more mags. its kinda sad, but in a lot of ways inevitable. Q still makes a lot of time for the gallaghers, so ithank them for that, but they even reviewed "Heathen Chemistry" as being juste a middleoftheroad album showing their growing faliure to offer objective intelligent opinions and their tendency to juste hop on the bandwagon.

truth be known, its really difficult to find any good music media nowadays and its really juste a product of the overall atmosphere in the industry today. these are dark times we live in as justin timberlake rules over all he sees. most of us can only wait and pray for our saviour to come as the likes of thom yorke, ryan adams, jack white and chris martin have so far fallen short of being able to turn the tides.

Charming, anyway, why on earth does Thrash consistently brand people 'dickfaces', that's so immature, have respect dude. I read Q Magazine now and again, it's not my first choice as the music feautered in it is a from a broader horizon (rock, hip hop, some pop) and it's pretty commercial in comparision to other publications out there at the minute. Commercialism is sometimes painful, but realistically, most of the bands in which I listen to regulary are pretty commercial. Contradiction City! Anyway, Thom Yorke has had quite a lot of press lately, and in the past, but I suppose he deserves it, to a certain extent.
