MIDI question

The small delay between my keyboard and soundcard is normal, right?

Any way to make it instantaneous?

no definitely
on some soundcards you can shorten the delay but you'll never totally get rid of it...

latency is the name of the delay, and depending on the software your using, u can adjust this. it will never go completly tho! adjusting buffer sizes will decrease the latency, this is one such method that can be used if youre using Cubase. the better the soundcard, the lower the latency obviuosly.

If you're using Cool Edit Pro like me then I can help you a bit. I had the same problem a while back and found that there is an option called "Correct Drift" it's not a default setting but if you set it then it will help ALOT.

What delay do you mean?, are you rewiring it thru cubase or something?
Give us a shout back and I will see if I can help.

Cheers,
B.

. Yeah i have the saame problem with this keyboard latency. It really ****ing sucks, i wasnt expecting that when i bought a keyboard controller. If i knew there was gonnna be such a thing... Perhaps im better off runnning my keyboard through sound modules and using the audio in on my soundcard. Ive been using cakewalk homestudio and a demo of project5. Can anyone help me reduce latency with these progs?

Hy everyone! The solution is one and easy.If you want to descrease the audio latency you must descrease the sound card audio buffer. You can't obtain the ideal(0 value),but you can close to it,that depend on your pc. configuration ,operating sistem(2000 Pro+SP4 recommended,or XP Pro+SP1) and sound card driver.I used the Reason 2.5,Steinberg Cubasse,Cool Edit Pro2 and manny more,i hade the same problem ,but i fixed the problem long time ago.
Good luck you too and keep in touch!
