I need help dividing a HUGE file up into tracks.

My friend gave me this file (DJ Shadow - Essential Mix) that is one long two-hour track. I guess it was easier for him to download it that way, but it's relatively useless to both of us in this form.

I'm looking for something that will allow me to divide it up into smaller tracks, preferably with a visual diagram of where the individual segments begin and end.

Know about anything like that?

any wave editing software will do what you want... soundforge / cool edit pro / etc....

and unless the mp3 happens to have silence between segments you're not going to see where one song ends and another begins... but that shouldn't really be a big deal when you're cutting it up and making new files...

Thanks.

There are some pauses and obvious transitions where the tracks used to be seperated, I'm guessing. It shouldn't ge a problem making logical breaks, I just needed the means.

awesome... that's pretty lucky for you then... the pauses will show up as a flatline within the wave... it'll be super simple to chop things up...
