the way i hear things it breaks down like this (i'm no expert so don't quote me please)...
the difference between rap and r&b is the vocal styles... most rappers try to say as many words as possible in the shortest amount of time... whereas in r&b they seem to try to stretch each and every word as much as they can (to show the emotion in their voice or something...)
hip hop mainly revolves around the music... usually performed by djs... they might have snippets of rap / r&b / funk / soul in their albums but the main focus is the music rather than the words... although any words they do incorporate into their music are usually worth listening to...

"Black" music? That's really not very PC, though, I'm sure you don't care... at all....
Anyway, it's the same with all genre derivatives. There's different approaches and flavors.
Jazz, for example, has b-bop, swing, cool, acid, and etc.
The same goes for rock. There's different tempos, focuses, and over all styles. Shall I go into deeper detail about the genres you mentioned? I'm sorry to say that I'm not an expert though....
