all depends on what you like... the only band i played along with from the ones you listed was metallica but some were easier than others... i also started playing 10 years ago and stopped playing covers after about 5 so my list is gonna be slanted hehehe...
so from what i remember i'd suggest
for whom the bell tolls... good and heavy and not too fast either...
am i evil? - first metallica i ever learned... not that hard if you stick to the rhythm...
creeping death - this one is fast but once you've got the speed it's not that tough (it's a good song to develop stamina on)
aside from that you can try playing along to the nevermind album by nirvana... everything on there is decent and simple to play...
suck my kiss by the red hot chili peppers is a good way to develop some funky rhythm...
spoonman by soundgarden is cool and relatively easy too if you're interested in experimenting with dropped D tuning...
lastly the mountain song by jane's addiction is great and ultra simple...

it's all good... the stringed instrument section is usually a little slower to get posts but guitar players aren't that rare... it'll fill out...
so what bands / style are you looking to learn?

you gotta work with me here hehehe.... that's pretty vague hehehe... and you're right it's better to start of easy and work upward...
but specifically...
acoustic or electric?
do you understand bar chord theory?
what bands do you like right now?
what songs can you already play?
what's a song you'd like to be able to play that you think is beyond your current skill?
what techniques do you feel strong/weak with (picking / strumming / lead)?
