Frankie Sparo

Frankie Sparo is a song writer on Constellation (GYBE! and co), sung on A Silver Mt Zion's Born Into Trouble a bit...
Wondering if I should get his album, Welcome To Crummy Mystics... A guy on another board recommended it very much...
But 20 Euro's for a cd you haven't heard a note of... that' s a lot!

You should try picking up the Constellation sampler, Music Until Now, there is a Frankie Sparo track on there and some other stuff. To be honest I wouldn't buy the album on the strength of what I have heard, there are some much better artists on that label, Do Make Say Think for example.

Yeah I guess, actually the tracks I have heard remind me a little of Tom Waits. I'm thinking I probably will but the Sparo album this year but its just not one of my priorities.

That might not apply to all his stuff but the track I heard definitately sounded like it could have been from the latest Tom Waits album.

I noticed you were listening to Death Cab for Cutie, I haven't actually got anything by them but have heard they are amazing. What stuff would you recommend I check out?

well I don't have a lot of money... so Sparo will have to wait...

I have no cd's myself of Death Cab For Cutie, but I hear that their latest one, "Transatlanticism" is very good... Liked the singer's collaboration with Dntel, called The Postal Service very much too...

check the rock section, I believe there is a thread devoted to DCFC, you might find more information there
