favorite djs

just because i'm annoyed at the fact that there's only one thread here...

who's your favorite dj and why...

personally i'd say dj shadow... his ...endtroducing album is classic and the private press is definetely one of the best albums to be released this year... although the intro and outros seem tacked on as if he needed to pay tribute to the 70s funk and soul styles that he used so much with his earlier material...

Kid Koala, DJ Food, Dimitri from Paris,...

I'm not quite sure about the name, but I think it was DJ Surgeon - saw him live in Den Haag/Holland once and he did an amazing show, d-jaying using video footage (like a guy firing a gun as basic drum beat). On top of that you had another guy mixing the different video clips to the music on a big screen. That was amazing! Anyone heard of this guy?

I don't know anything about DJ Surgeon, but I know Coldcut and Hextatic do the same thing even in their live shows, that is using video footage for mixing. you can actually get the software to mix video from Coldcut's Ninja Tune label. fun stuff, isn't it?

I'm definitely with all the DJ Shadow fans. I love the Private Press, there are some great mixes on it. I heard DJ Food playing at my hairdressers once but I haven't managed to track any of it down since. Can you help me out with some album names Pogo? Or anyone else? I think Dan the Automator isn't that great a DJ but I think the reason he's so widely recognised is cause he's "solid". None of his albums are masterpieces, but they are still consistently decent. I don't know if that makes any sense, but do you get what I'm trying to say?

try the link down there, you can order DJ Food stuff directly from Ninja Tune.

http://www.ninjatune.net/ninjashop/i...de=ZEN47#ZEN47

Besides Jazz Brakes 3, 4, and 5. DJ Food has 3 other albums, Recipe For Disaster, Refried Food and Kaleidoscope. at least those are what they have, maybe more, not sure...

i dont like trance, house or clubber style music and related djs.
i think the djs in electronica are more prolific, creative
and worth counting as artists (relatively).
in this way:
i really enjoy dj shadow, not only due to his trendy releases,
i firstly discovered him with the steamy U.N.K.L.E project, i assert that Psyence Fiction is one of the greatest albums in this sense. Also Private Press is a cool and satisfyin' record of this year.
I also assert that 3D, Daddy G and Mushroom have proven
in their 3-massive-albums their breakthrough-djhood (aahm didnt find the right word, sorry.)
Tricky, (having been tricky kid in blue lines) for my opinion, has carried the flag excellent after Massive Attack. Juxtapose is really unorthodox and great...
i also appreciate Leftfield, and did like Rhythm&Stealth very much.
Paul was very impressive in this style though it is more close to the intelligent dance music.

the accent of icelandic words falls in almost all cases on the first syllable. the exceptions are

1.words that have the negative prefix "ó-" meaning "un-" as in "unwilling" eg óhreinindi
2.words that have the prefix "all-" meaning "rather" or "very" eg allfeginn

in these two cases, the accent falls equally on the first two syllables or mainly on the second syllable.
