the only sg i've ever heard of was the gibson one and it's knock offs... mind you i'd never get a guitar worth much more than about $1000 canadian... i'd just be to nervous about scratching it or bumping it to really let loose and play it...

that's cool... personally my favorite guitar is a toss up between my mexican strat and a REALLY cheap les paul pawnshop special... and i think the conversion is something like 2.5 canadian dollars for one pound...
although everything i've seen in regards to that guitar on the net prices it around $1000... or £600... but value doesn't really mean anything unless you're a collector... if it sounds good and plays good then it IS good...

aagh shusht - customised guitars, bah! , wheres the fun in that?!, you may as well make a customized guitar that plays a whole song when you press a button!. A good guitarist should be able to play well with the worst guitar. A good guitar would just (amplifie - ((spelling?)), - how good the guitarist is, a customised one mearely adds frills. thats only my opinion you can go shout about how stupid it sounds to you if you wish.
wow i tped alot there woo! even got a scroll thingie when i was typing JAYZUSS?!?!

that's the biggest misconception ever... so many people think they need to top gear to sound great and it's NOT TRUE... while it doesn't hurt your sound so many professionals have said it time and time again... the VAST majority of your sound comes from your hands...
i remember an interview with jerry cantrell from alice in chains and he was talking about opening for van halen in the early 90s... once the tour was over eddie hooked him up with an identical set up as his but it didn't matter... when cantrell played he still sounded like himself... try as he might he just couldn't sound like eddie van halen even when he was using that mans gear... robbie krieger from the doors has also mentionned it in many interviews... he had this whole attitude throughout the 60s and 70s where he could only play well if he had his specific guitar... then he realised that it was all psychological and it REALLY doesn't matter what gear he's using but how he's playing it...
don't get me wrong though getting a cheap pawn shop guitar with a warped neck... dirty pickups... and tuning pegs that slip will make you sound bad... but once you get to the point where the instrument stays in tune it doesn't really matter anymore...
and i can't remember who it was... might have been the clash or billy bragg... anyway the guitar player used to play shows with a very cheap guitar and a 20watt amp... and no one in the crowd was complaining...

I used to own a 76 Gibson SG unibody. I knew this herion junkie that pawned it and couldn't get it back so he let me pawn it out plus $20 for another hit of the shit. I got it appraised for $1000.00....yeah what a deal! Unfortunately I dropped in during a stoned and drunken jam and cracked the neck....yes I cried but I was under the influence.
Now I own a Fender Strat. I used to hate them but once I played it I felt at home.
Cheers,
Effectivenow
