All right, I don't think I've ever really come clean on this topic. But seriously, I think I should state that in my pre-teen years, my world of music rose and fell on corporate "alternative" rock radio. Keep in mind that the only music I had access to at the time was what was on the radio and in the one-and-only record shop in my area, back in the "dark ages" before the Web.

So, that out of the way, I submit to you what my "top-20" artists would have looked like in 1994-1995 at the age of 11-12, minus the obligatory Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and Nirvana, and the somewhat-out-of-place adoration I had for '60s pop-rock and Queen.

In any case, here it is:

Better Than Ezra
Blues Traveler
Candlebox
Collective Soul
Counting Crows
Days of the New
Dave Mathews Band
Deep Blue Something
Deftones
Dishwalla
Everclear
Goo Goo Dolls
Live
Korn
Presidents of the USA
Semisonic
Seven Mary Three
Silverchair
Stone Temple Pilots
The Verve Pipe
The Wallflowers

There's nothing wrong with it, it'd just be preferable to listen to good examples of it, if possible.

Hey, I enjoy SOAD. They're more creative than most alt-metal bands that get radio play.
