I had my swedish pop era... (Ace Of Base, Roxette, Abba)
bought even a Meat Loaf greatest hits cd...
and a Kim Wilde one too, just because it was so cheap, I don't know if I even listened to it...

Dude, you're embarassed about liking Depeche Mode? That's a mark of good taste! "Violator" (which has "Enjoy the Silence") is a great album, one of my all-time favorites. They're a great group, nothing to be ashamed of.

If it had just been Eminem and Dr.Dre, it would have been okay, but there's a whole aftermath of new rappers, like Snoop Dogg, Obie Trice, Nate Dogg, P. Diddy, and let's not forget the new-but-already-so-annoying 50 Cent. I'm sure Eminem and Dr. Dre are still very good, but the whole hiphop thing is just such a cliche now (*****es, money, gangsters, writing words phonetically, Pimps...) But this is just my opinion, and this is the rock forum, so I'll keep this short.
And for Depeche Mode, they just seem like the standard '80s synthesizer-band, like Duran Duran or A-Ha.

HA! you call those guilty pleasures? I think im a relatively young member on the forum so keep in my mind...I'm still growing.
O god...here it goes.....
1. My first C.D is credited to Celine Dion
2. I was a HUGE and I mean HUGE "teeny bopper" when I was around the ages of 8-12. I mean, I thought the Spice Girls was the best band EVER.
3. I also used to be a fan of J-pop. For those of you who don't know, J-pop is Japanese pop music...the absolute worst crap ever...if you think Britney Spears is produced, you ain't see nothin' yet!
4. I actually bought the Justified c.d. I know that only came out..about a year ago? So yes, by that time I was already enlightened in terms of music, but ...goddamit I was curious alright?!
...By far I deserve the award for the worst guilty pleasures...

I've had friends who made me feel ashamed when Pizzicato 5 was on in my car. Maybe because I was singing along to it...

7. I own Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" on CD and "Thriller" on tape. (I kind of want to get rid of them though, in light of recent events. Plus I never really listen to them...)
8. If spacemanspiff can admit it, so can I: I like 80's new wave. I'm not ashamed of it either. Missing Persons, A Flock of Seagulls, Human League, Duran Duran ("Girls on Film"), etc.
