Fugazi is a TRUE emo band. The ancestor of emo.

So I take it you don't like Fugazi

So in a sense, Fugazi isn't emo.

So are they or aren't they one minute we are idiots for saying they are not EMO then you say they are not EMO. Does that mean that you are an idiot as well?
Look I really don't give a shit what people call EMO, it makes no difference to be and does not detract from the music that I enjoy,
call poison idea EMO if you want.
I had never even heard of EMO before posting on this forum.
I first saw fugazi live in 1990 and they are still to this day one of the greatest live acts I have ever seen, their albums are also IMO quality albums. Nobody called them emo 13 years ago, they were just a really original alternative rock band that appealed to many people who were also into punk rock.
Now I like the descendents and Bad Religion and NOFX and Propagandhi, but a few years ago this evolution of melodic punk went really IMO crap. The blink 128, saves the day, sum 41 and the other bands which follow their style just really do not appeal to me. Now I hear people labeling them as EMO. Okay that is good at least they are not called punk rock anymore.
But now you are trying to incorporate Fugazi into this bunch just seems a bit strange to me.
I thought these EMO bands had their roots in the melodic punk of the descendents, Bad Religion, NOFX, even bands like the Buzzcocks. Just because Ian McKay sings with feeling in his voice?? does that automatically lump fugazi as EMO, if that is so my post in the "what is your favourite EMO song" thread stands Barbara Strisand is EMO.
