so Josh, is that the worst Oval release?

worst? I can't really say because i've never heard the first release "wohnton", but maybe it just seemed too happy at times, don't get me wrong, I love happy music at times, but when it comes to Oval, I'm expecting what I heard from Systemisch, Szenariodisk, and Dok

it must have something to do with the fact that it is a collaboration project between him and the other japanese musican.
it is kinda surprising that something from Oval can sound "too happy".

fantastic yet not so good
|
"and yes, I'm anxious to hear the Yasume album myself, i love pretty much anything that's off of City Centre Offices..."
well, CCO released some truly outstanding stuff (gorgeous remote viewer album, for instance.).
and this one has CCO written all over it.
first electronic release this year (and keep in mind that i haven't listened/heard nearly as much electronic stuff this year as previous years) that i've enjoyed entirely, from beginning to end.
buy, download, get it somehow. whatever.
NOW.

yay. that would make yasume the first un-disappointing electroinc release of the year.
[oh. khm. pulseprogramming would be another diss'ing release. 'blooms eventually' is amazing, other songs are soooo unmemorable.]

my favs off of CCO have to be Arovane's "Tides" and Christian Kleine's "Beyond Repair", but maybe I am biased? Dictaphone was ok, and I find the Remote Viewer album just good, but not great...I liked the Pulseprogramming album tho, I haven't heard any of their earlier stuff

Here's a few that I had high hopes for that didn't pan out.
Wolfsheim-Casting Shadows The first big bomb this band has released unless you also count Hamburg Rom, the "live" effort.
De/Vision-Devolution didn't completely suck but wasn't nearly as good a "Two"
I thought Martin Gore's and Daide Gahan's solo records stunk up the joint.
Don't even get me started on Killing Joke, although I realize I may be in the minority on that one.

I have Martin Gore's first solo EP and it wasn't as good as anything he did for Depeche mode. so I kinda skipped the second solo effort by him.
Killing Joke's new album got a lot of rave reviews, but I haven't heard the new album yet.
