I have his "children of nature" and his collaboration with Sigur Ros entitled "angels of the universe" and both of them are stunning, highly recommended from my standpoint...beautiful string arrangement with tons of emotion...

*still recommends the guy*
if you haven't checked him out, please do. He might be too intermittent for your tastes.

i listened to the collaboration with sigur ros, and found it a really relaxing cd. the strings were really beautiful, but i found myself wanting more. havin experience of the soundscapes that sigur ros are capable of, i found that this work was lacking in development of the melodies and string layers of texture. the short pieces tended to biuld quickly and fall rapidly, leading into the next track that sounded much similar. dont get me wrong, i like the exploration of a single theme repeatadley, but i think a lot more could have been done on that particular project.
did you think anythin along those lines?

The only stuff I've heard by him was his collaboration with Current 93, "Island". I can't say it was one of C93's best, apart from the odd decent track ("Fallen"), I thought it was a bit repetitive, too many similar chiming, cold-sounding synthlines.

Most definitely, kind of weird that you brought this up because I just obtained "Dust to Dust" by him.
Darkness, you might like the H3OH album he did with The Hafler Trio, it's quite good. Also check out "Children of Nature" and "Angels of the Universe"
...and if you like those 2, you'd love the Johann Johannsson album "Englaborn" on Touch.

His collabration with Current 93, "sland" is good. "Dust to Dust" has been out for a while. It took me some time to get used to it. I really like it now. It´s been a while since I listened to H3oH. It´s time to listen to it again.
I agree with your suggestion of Jóhann Jóhannsson´s "Englabörn"! Do you like "Virthulegu forsetar" or "Englabörn" more?

yeah, Isn't Dust to Dust just a compilation of some of his songs from various releases?
I had no idea Johann had another album out there. I MUST check it out. Thanks
What label is Virthulegu on?

Dust to Dust is a compilation, has some unreleased tracks from films Movie Days, Children of Nature, Angels of the Universe, Cold Fever etc.
That was an indirect way of asking if it was leaked. I haven´t heard it yet. Virthulegu forestar isn´t due out til the 12th of October and it´s on Touch label.
Here´s some information from his website. http://www.johannjohannsson.com/
You can reserve a copy at https://www.touchshop.org/
