John Cage

Anyone here love John Cage?

I'm hardly an obsessed Cage fanatic, but I do appreciate his various contributions to composition and music in general. And more importantly, I just like his music. What I own of his catalogue is pretty unimpressive, but I like what I've heard thus far -- mostly his works for 'prepared piano'.

Any other Cage recommendations that I absolutely must hear? I'm thinking of picking up some compilations of his percussion pieces next...

I like John Cage, although I'm a bit pickly on what I like.

Some of Cage's music just seems to indeterimenant for my liking.

However his Sonata and Interludes for Prepared Piano is highly recommended.

So is his Suite for Toy Piano, Seasons, (various other music for prepared piano), In Lanscape.

Some more.

John Cage was a great philosopher of music, and a really lazy composer...

That's an interesting way of putting it, Reverend Rock...depending on your perspective that could be very true!
