I've been thinking about this again and may'be I shouldn't go with ipod. I recently saw a Dell ad for their new mp3 player which sorta looks like ipod but more complicated. The thing is that it's $249 and gives you *I think..can't remember exactly* 30 gb...yeow. If you wanted that much gb on ipod, it's $499 or something, right?

Now it's ipod or Dell's mp3 player...hmm..

Well I don't know what the Dell is like but I can tell you that an iPod is of a really good quality and you can also get a heap of cool ad-ons for it too. Maybe you should try to look around for some second hand ones? There'll probably be a few around after christmas as unwanted gifts and because they are new, they won't really be much different except in price.
