Is drunk on life

Well..
Merzbow was unfortunately blown away by his support act who were a performance art group who used their own voices and effects to make really harsh Power Electronics style noise. They were excellent and put on a good show...
It was a disappointment when Merzbow took the stage with a laptop and gave us a 45 minute set of nothing but slowly modulated white noise.
It was quite soothing but not exactly an all out aural assault and I guess I expected a bit more than watching a slightly bored looking Japanese man with long hair moving a mouse!
I attempted to speak to him after the show but I don't think his english is too good. Either that or I could have been slurring my words after drinking too much booze!

I wish I could remember the name. I'll ask my mates see if anyone remembers.
It was literally modulated white noise. There were 2 laptops (godknows why) I guess on generating a pure noise tone and him using the other one to filter it.
As I said, it was soothing, but I'm used to the disjointed sections of horrible noise mixed together in a really nasty way, not soothing but distorted, "sounds of the sea" music!

I was hoping he would bring all his gears instead of his computers. oh well, I guess it is much easier to carry 2 laptops than bunch of guitars and effect boxes. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed.
it would be cool to see one of his shows in the 80's or early 90's because he hadn't switched over to computers yet.

so what did he use then? that would've been quite interesting, almost makes me think of watching Philip Jeck...he's an avant-garde turntablist, I can only imagine what that would be...
