Moondog

Does anyone else appreciate this 1950s Avant-Gardist? I find his innovative mixture of Jazz, ethnic music and the avant-garde to be pretty addictive at times...

I have 'Moondog' [1956] and 'More Moondog' [1956] -- both fantastic albums.

I'm assuming that Moondog Jr. is completely unrelated to Moondog (I don't know) -- they look like Alternative rock or something...

yep sorry, but I really had to say this
I really like this band (and I'm not the only one here ), but they had to change their name into Zita Swoon, because of the Jazzman

I am another fan of Moondog.

This guy influenced the classical minimalist, like Steve Reich and Phillip Glass.

Both of whom used to hang out with him in New York.

Moondog was homeless for some time, and where he stood became known as Moondog corner.

Glad there are a few other people out there who remember him and his music
found this url http://www.moondogscorner.de/ it seems more people in Germany appreciate him more then Americans near NYC.
Thanks
