I'm starting this thread because I've honestly never encountered a live Jazz VHS/DVD in any sort of retail situation. I'm just curious if anyone has any recommendations of recorded performances that they've seen or own.

I've been able to find some videos online, but am interested in hearing some opinions before I start buying blindly. :tongue:

Well, so much for this thread...looks as if no one owns a Jazz video...

I don't know if it's on DVD but here in the states "Jazz on a Summers Day" is on VHS.

Some really nice bop and Anita O'Day and Louis Armstrong doing what they did well.

Also, the documentaries "Mingus" and "Let's Get Lost" are WELL worth seeing.

I know it seems you're more interested in 'performance' type things but just in case you haven't seen these I'm sure you'd find them at least worth a viewing or two.

Mingus is really sad! You see him getting evicted and stuff.
