Well, I LOVE 'Octopus'!
I took 'The Advent of Panurge' just because it really THWONKS out at you.
Glad to see 'Knots' doing so well, not everybody gets it. I was reading 'Knots' by R.D. Laing for a class in school when I recieved this album as a gift. "I think you'll like this" my friend said. Boy, were they right. I was delighted to hear passages of that difficult and wonderful book and to discover this wonderful band.

I heard Columbia thought this album was going to break the band in the states but they couldn't get any airplay. I've often wondered if it would have made a difference, maybe not. "Free Hand' and 'in a glass house' are maybe even more accessible and were equally snubbed by the fools with their hands on seventies radio.

The Advent of Panurge is everything I like about G.G. in one song. quiet and pretty bits, LOUD rocking bits, a lot of chewing satisfaction for your ears.

It's probably my favorite GG track. It's even more amazing when you hear them pull off those insane contrapuntal vocal harmonies live! Honestly, those guys were so good it makes me sick sometimes.

There're only one of the most important progressive rock groups in the history of popular music.

It's been on my to-buy-list for at least 3 years prior to it's actual release date. I visit quite a few GG related sites that had been covering the impending release for years, but I still haven't picked the thing up. I guess I've been content w/ "Playing The Fool", their live release for a while...
