I was very big on KoRn until 'Follow the Leader'. Though, it did have some good songs, it felt watered down. I'm sure it's because, by then, they were trying to appeal to a more mainstream audience. Of course, I can understand why. They were under pressure from the label since 'Life is Peachy' didn't do as well as the self-titled debut, and by then, most of them were on their way to forming a family unit.
Also, being from Florida, I was also was listening to Limp Bizkit since way back. I'm a hip-hop fan, so hybrids appealed to me... I've never liked metal... at all. Hardcore: yes, but not metal. Anyway, Fred Durst is an idiot, so I stopped supporting them. I hope Wes moves on to do great things.
As far as Nu-Metal...? I don’t know. Um, Nonpoint is also homegrown, so I was a big into them when they were coming up (though, I hate their major label releases; I think their new producer sucks). I guess RATM counts... and Groovenics - though, they’re self described as “Groovecore” (though, maybe not anymore). I guess I was into all the local ‘Nu-Metal’ bands (Darwins, Lost, GoneMad, and etc.) though, like I said, here, it was called “crossover” - a mixture of different musical flavors. I liked their feel because I’m not really into rock and roll styles (but you gotta love dat rock-steady

). What about 311? Would they be Nu-Metal? I don’t see any aspects of metal in them at all, but... .
Let me ask you - are things like Strongarm, Strife, Indecision, Straight Faced, and Kill the Man in Question metal? If not, how do they differ? I’ve always known them as simply hardcore - and what you people described as Nu-Metal, and what we call crossover, is usually a mixture of hardcore and something else. In some instances, it’s even referred to as rap-core (if it happens to be rap/hardcore). In fact, there was
a lot of [blank]cores. I think they just started to call it crossover in order to simplify things. We never called things like that “Nu-Metal” because, really, I guess no one saw any aspect of metal in it, it was just... hard. Hard rock I guess.
