Best MC/Albums

The other thread relating to best rappers seemed to get a bit out of hand and turned into a Biggie/Pac thread. Hopefully this thread will remain clean from pointless comments so people can see some educated epinions on the greatest talents in Hip Hop.

Anyway here are my top 10 n a bit of info on my decisions:
10. Method Man / Bone Thugs (Can't Decide)
9. Rakim
8. Common - Amazingly talanted storytelling mc
7. Nas (Illmatic) Storytelling MC
6. Mobb Deep (The Infamous & Hell On Earth)
5. GZA
4. Klashnekoff (UK Rapper)
3. Canibus
2. KRS-ONE
1. 2pac Gangsta Rapper

5. GZA - Ask any rap fan to name some of the best hip-hop albums in history, and GZA’s Liquid Swords will be mentioned repeatedly. The GZA, also known as the Genius, is known for using intense, intricate flows and a variety of styles when rapping. To be generally considered one of the best MCs of the Wu-Tang Clan, arguably the best hip-hop group of all time, is definitely a high honor. His current status of being the first Wu member with three solo albums released is a testament to his skill, experience, and dedication.

Best Works:
Albumb: Liquid Swords / Single: B.I.B.L.E

4. Klashnekoff, the founder member of the Terra Firma crew, Klashnekoff, (Pronounced, k-lash-nek-off), is a Hackney born and bred father of two, whose west-Indian roots have proved to be a strong influence on his music. He chooses to leave the labelling of his style to the masses, but does admit to drawing inspiration from a bank of talent that reads like a trans-genre hall of fame, with appearances from the likes of David Bowie and Bob Marley. Wherever or whatever his brand of Hip Hop there is no doubt that it has definitely quenched the underground’ s thirst for something new.

Best Works:
Albumb: The Sagas Of Klashnekoff / Single: All I Got

3. Canibus - This New Jersey-based rapper has always had something to prove. Even when his immense talent kicked down doors for him, he still had to earn his respect due to the relatively short time he spent in the underground. In spite of handily destroying rap veteran LL Cool J in their now famous battle, Canibus still has yet to prove himself, mostly due to his two undistinguished albums. Regardless of the circumstances, when it comes down to raw skills, few MCs can hold spit lyrics with the "ballistic characteristics of a hollow tip from point-blank distance" the way Canibus can. Can-I-Bus would be higher but as primarily a battle rapper his beatmaking on both albums caused controversy.

Best Works:
Album: Can-I-Bus / Single: 100 Bars

2. KRS-ONE - His name is an acronym meaning "Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone". The founding member of the legendary rap group Boogie Down Productions is renown for his political and socially conscious lyrics, as well as his ability to rock live shows without special effects, dancers, props, or whatever. Even after 15-plus years in hip-hop, he’s still one of the most skilled lyricists today. Check out for his latest album The Sneak Attack released earlier this year.

Best Works:
Albumb: Keep Right / Single: Unknown (I Been There imo)

1. 2pac - Not so much for flow or rhyming but the sheer rawness of his lyrical ability makes his rap sound truthfully real, the storytelling in songs like Brenda's got a baby paint a vivid picture of the true harshness for the less fortunate. Tupac’s untimely death reminded us that the line separating Art from Life is sometimes blurred. In hindsight we see how eerily prophetic much of his work was. Pieces such as “Ballad of a Dead Souljah, from the posthumous release Until the End of Time are like ghost cries, harsh yet oddly poignant. Tupac was indeed a souljah for the causes of his people as “Everything You Owe and “White Man’s World clearly demonstrated. Tupac Shakur is missed by all his fans (even those who doubt his demise) but he left us with a body of work that will continue to influence both the music and our entire culture for decades to come.

Best Works:
Album: All Eyez On Me / Single: Troublesome 96

Honourable Mention:

Rakim - Many would argue R is the best after the release of Paid In Full
Ganksta NIP - Brilliant Horrorcore rapper, extreme lyrics
Da Brat
Rah Digga
Redman - Hugely talented but lurks in the shadows of Meth & GZA
Inspectah Deck - Wu Tang Clan
Ghostface Killah - Wu Tang Clan
Killah Priest
Missy Elliot
Talib Kweli - Reflection Eternal
Andre 3000 - OutKast
Big Boi - OutKast
Cee lo - Goodie Mob
Pharoahe Monch - Infernal Affairs singles Truth Ft. Common
Ice Cube - Great new albumb along with his crew WC: Terrorist ThreatScarface - My Block & Inbetween Us Ft. Nas From The Fix
Ras Kass - Soul on Ice was a mind-blower, especially Nature of the Threat
Sticky Fingaz - The Smash Hit Single Slam
The Coup - Controversial albumb Party Music
KAM
De La Soul

The other thread is clean too, commenting on rappers that people listed is not off topic.

Lol, u cant have the best rap list without Common, Canibus or Nas.

Most of the punks on here don't know hip hop or haven't made a effort listening to the spectrum of talent out there

These were my personal favorites, there are other goodones, but I won't start listing them all, and Nas's not that great.

Bonnie ur lack or knowledge baffles me... Nas is the greatest storyteller out there (Common a close second but lacks the huge volume nas has released)
