Well, since you're posting this in the Prog section I'll assume you'd like some fresh Prog...a problem easily solved.

Assuming that you haven't heard these artists already, you should check them out:

Ruins
Magma
PFM
Art Zoyd
Happy Family
Renaissance
Porcupine Tree
Spock's Beard
King Crimson
Van Der Graaf Generator
Gentle Giant
Univers Zero
Gong
Henry Cow
Happy the Man
The Flower Kings
Bondage Fruit

Think that'll tide you over for a bit?

King Crimson is nice, I must agree, but not really new I thought.
I thought they had their heydays in the seventies

Well, he didn't really specify that the music had to be 'new' as in 'released within x-number of years', just that it's new to him [I assume]. So I was just throwing some names out in case he hasn't looked into those artists yet...

Well, CD Universe has pretty good sound samples for every imaginable artist. You could try the file-sharing route [although w/ Prog Rock I doubt you'll have much success] or you could check out the various pay-for-mp3 services around, they usually have pretty good high-quality samples.

And if you're ever again in the mood for some new Prog, there really is no need to go anywhere else than the famous Gibraltar Encyclopedia Of Progressive Rock for all the progressive rock info you could ever need...

...found here: http://www.gepr.net/

yeah loved their first album, haven't heard much of the newest one. they're quite good, sound a bit like radiohead, but more accessible, I guess.
