I had the same problem with my old one, ended up getting this one when I finally got tired of it. That stuff could give a guy sezures. And just the other day this one was getting uncontrolably darker. It turned out that all it needed was a beating. In all seriousness, whacking the crap out of it was the only thing that would brighten it up. All if fine now though. Scared me though, I thought I was going to have to get another one
