gotta agree with you on the beautiful place out in the country ep... kid for today is probably my favorite boc track... i owned geogaddi before i could find a copy of music has the right... so it never seemed like a disappointment to me... but i can see how it could be considered as such... i'd really like to see them solidify more of their ambient pieces into songs instead of having lots of random minute long pieces... i'd rather hear stuff like 1969 / you could feel the sky / dawn chorus instead of leslie neilsen talking about underwater volcanoes and energy saving ads...

actually, I like the vocals they add, like the "one important thought" towards the end of "Music has the Right"...got "BOC Maxima" the other day and it's a mix of their earlier songs with music has the right and it's quite nice...I also love Hi Scores itself...ever go to www.boardsofcanada.com? it's quite interesting..."Over the Horizon Radar" from Geogaddi and "triangles and rhombuses" off Music would be great songs if they were just extended out...

I don't know what to expect with this one...

I'm glad that they're finally releasing some new material.

I personally liked Twoism the best. Their best work is on it, like Iced Cooly and Sixtyniner. I think Twoism captures the essence of BOC a little bit more than MHTRTC.

i found twoism to be a disappointment, really, but then again, it was their first "major" release...i stress major because there quite a few earlier ones that were just distributed between family and friends...

would In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country be a good start getting into BOC? being an ep it's the cheapest and I quite like the title track...

that was my first BOC album orpheus... although i prefer kid for today over the title track hehehe...

that ep became ritualistic between my friend and i when we'd go on snowboarding trips... it just always seemed so appropriate at the start of the cold highway drive...

I think it's a good start, and one of their best albums, way more superior than Geogaddi...
