.ram files aren't audio files, if you open them in a text editor you will see an URL using the rtsp or mms protocol that is pointing to a real realmedia file (.rm or .ra) but you can't direclty save them to your hard disk. For that you'll need a program that will connect to the rtsp/mms server and will save the file while it is being played, you won't hear it though (or see it if it's a video), I mean the download rate will be as fast as the file would normally play. So to get one of these .rm or .ra files, open the .ram file in a text editor, copy the URL and paste it in StreamboxVCR. StreamboxVCR will connect to the server and save it on your hard disk to the target folder you specified.

We are talking about converting the .ram to .wav, and not saving .ram to a specified target! Sorry i didn't get your point? If this is a way to convert .ram to .wav then please explain more..

Thanks for your interest..

And then you can use a "rm to wav" converter which is easier to find on the net than a "ram to wav". I've read that Streambox Ripper 2.007 can convert rm files to wav. You should be able to find someone who still have this old version with Google.

Or, as pambient said, you can record while it's playing if your sound card supports full-duplex. Play the file in RealPlayer or Media Player Classic and use another program (like Total Recorder) to record the what is being played.
