can someone explain me please, what is "bluegrass" and "americana" ?.They´re somehow related to country/folk or something like that i guess
tks in advance
bluegrass is it's own style of music... i guess it ties into americana as something predominant in southern states... the music itself is pretty badass... bordering on jazz at times... it typically played at a fast steady beat with solid vocal harmonies... and you can't have bluegrass without a banjo... i can't think of any names off the top of my head right now hehehe... but my uncle was huge into bluegrass so i heard a lot of it when i was at their place (they lived behind my house)...

Bluegrass was a style of music pretty much invented by Bill Monroe in the 40's with his band the Bluegrass Boys. Also check out Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys, who played with Bill Monroe. Get ya some Stanley Bro's too. One of the best newer Bluegrass bands around now is the Del McCoury band. There's a lot, just stay away from "Newgrass" untill you've heard the old stuff, but it's all a good listen. Americana is just another blanket term for American Folk music circa 1990's and on. I like to joke and say that it was invented by singer/songwriters that just didn't like the singer/songwriter label. Hope that helps.
