hey, a lot of you hav already dun a good job to get me started. never really listend belle and sebastian. one of those bands that ive always heard bits and pieces of while in the co. and houses/apartments of others. been meanin to trym on fora while so if its not too much trouble for the B&S fans here to continue rattling off fav traks id appreciate it. dont worry, if you care bout supporting the artist and shite if enough of its what ilike iwill endup gettin the albums/eps and goin to shows. im a traditionalist at heart.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but B&S are not really all that unique in sound, owing a lot to Van Morrison, Nick Drake, and the Smiths. I happen to love them all the same, owning copies of Tigermilk, Sinister, and Arab Strap. Been coveting the Lazy Line Painter Jane ep collection for awhile; haven't gotten Catastrophe Waitress because it sounds too polished for my ears. The high praise it is receiving on this site almost makes me want to reconsider. . .

I think a lot of people realise The Smiths influence on B&S, they also take a lot from Felt and Dylan. At the same time I do think they are much more individual than a lot of current artists both lyrically and musically, and I know it will probably cause some controversy (This means from you Az) but I really think B&S are better than The Smiths, I find them much more appealing anyway.

I like the Smiths as well as I like B&S... and I don't think there are many British rockbands not influenced by the Smiths...

hey hey hey! I like Belle & Sebastian quite a bit at this moment in time. I really like Electronic Renaissance and I think they grow on you.

They're the quintissential british student indie band. Its usually true that ou love them or hate them. What I do like however is that they got some of their album names from toilet graffitti in Glasgow.

Dear Catastrophe Waitress is a excellent step for Belle and Sebastian. A bit more produced than anything they've done in the past, but a strong album anyhow.

I love it when a good band takes a step forward in changing their musical direction (ala wilco, the flaming lips, u2). I'm hoping their next album can be a big breakthough for them in attaining a larger audience.

If you're feeling sinister is one my favaroite all time albums. It really grows on you.
